Treatment Options
Many times, when a patient is experiencing chronic and intractable pain, pain management is recommended. Pain management is part of a more conservative approach to treating pain, and is typically recommended before surgery. The Pain Management Specialist will evaluate you and assess your diagnostics before making a recommendation as to the best approach to curb the pain.
Of the various procedures typically offered, the doctor will use special medications and inject them locally into the injured body part. Many times, to ensure exact placement of the injectables, the doctor may use special equipment called a C-Arm. This is done in a surgical setting. The C-Arm allows the doctor, via a monitor, to see the internal anatomy of the specific body part receiving the injection.
